Bike to School

October 8th, 2008 Posted in News

My teammate Jason Donald and I had a cool opportunity to visit Flatirons Elementary School in Boulder, where my wife is a PE teacher.  They had a Bike-To-School fair after classes one day, complete with bike repair, and obstacle course with little jumps, and other stuff.  Jason and I brought our race bikes to show the kids and to hand out and sign hats, waterbottles, and posters.  Jason even road the obstacle course on the road bike!  These kids were so excited, it was really cool.  As soon as the bell rang we were just mobbed.  Loren had been telling me what big fans even the little kids and parents at her school are of our Garmin-Chipotle Team, and now I really believe her.  Its pretty neat to have so much community support behind Boulder’s home team.  All this week at school many of her kids have been wearing cycling caps and argyle socks to school!   Now I’m headed down to Atlanta. Georgia and up to Dalton for the Raisin Hope Weekend.  This is my first week back training again so it will be a fun way to get the ball rolling again.  Thanks for checking in!      img00800.jpg                              img00802.jpg

Hey, great that you took the time to do this! Would you be interested in doing it for the school you grew up with, Heatherwood Elementary? It would be in the spring time. Thanks
