Early Off Season
September 5th, 2008 Posted in NewsThat was both the longest and shortest season of my career. Long because it was so mentally draining and frustrating, boring, and tedious. Short in that I’ve raced 45 min in the last 6 months. Im happy to be confident now that I will be back to my original level, and probably stronger, for next year. Im really excited to get all the pieces back together over the off season and feel strong and fast again. But now its time for a little off season, which is nice because I finally feel back on schedule. Regardless of what happened over the year, now is the time of year for everybody to finish up racing and unwind a little. My season has been more stressful than if i had raced two Grand Tours, but in a different way, so I really have to listen to that and take some time off. Even though I am still feeling better each day, Im not gonna do specific training for a bit so I don’t arrive at training camp in January already cracked! By the end of September my goal is to be totally rested, physically and mentally, and to start training again with nothing holding me back anymore. So whats on the schedule?? A little hiking with the dog, camping, some mellow mountain biking (my first MTB ride last week I smacked an aspen tree on my still slightly broken shoulder and knocked me off….yikes), and even a Spanish class here at CU. I started that this week and it goes through the whole semester! Crazy! Ill be around though so it should work out. Its also been good “fun” to do a little house cleaning/purging, shopping, and all the other stuff you never have the time and energy to do during the season. Thanks for checkin in

It was great to see you race at Nationals. Enjoy some real time off the bike and enjoy recharging. Looking forward to seeing you back next year strong as ever!
