Redlands wrap up

Well, I would say the team has had better races. On sundays final stage in the first twenty-five km, I had to stop once to rip my chain out of my frame and then once to replace a rear flat tire. On the sunset loop, with no caravan and full gas speeds from the start it made for a long day of chasing. While most riders drop out I kept racing, wanting to get in a good day of training if nothing else. For the team, only Chris Jones and myself finished the race, with the rest of the guys having anything that could go wrong going wrong. Chris rode super strong all week, I wish I had a little better luck so I could have helped him out more on Sunday.

On an ‘up’ note for Team Type 1; I did see in the ‘hot’ section of the new velonews our director Ed Beamon getting his fury face creature getting cut off on the podium after Shawn Milne won a stage at the tour of Taiwan earlier this month. He had said at training camp that if the team won a stage he would cut it off, so at least he didn’t lie to us! We’ve also got some new super high socks – check out the picture – I’m second from the left and you can clearly see the socks.

Time for a day or two of hard rest. Then, it is back to training, hopefully the form will start coming around soon.
