So Close…
June 14th, 2008 Posted in NewsAfter the mountain top finish and the TT, Team Type 1 had 3rd, 4th, and 5th overall. Solid but I think we’d trade 3 guys in the top five for one guy in the lead. With that in mind, today’s stage 5 was pretty tough. From lap one Chris Jones was up the road in a break of 10 riders. A lap later I followed one of the climbers on Tecos when he attacked up the laps big climb. We spent the next 35km bridging the gap. Once I was in the break Chris and I were hoping that one of our GC riders could use us as a spring board for gaining some time in the GC and possibly take the lead. Our GC riders weren’t able to escape from the race leader and our break ended up making it to the line. Both Chris and I were pretty tired from the day’s, and past few stages, efforts. I finished fourth on the stage and am a bit dissapointed to have missed out on the stage win but the legs just weren’t there.
One more hard stage tomorrow in Quebec City, one more chance to put a Team Type 1 rider in the yellow jersey, and maybe another shot at a stage, but priorities lay with helping the team first.

I’m so proud to see TT1 making its mark in the first year! I picked up a poster of the Team at our local Tour de Cure ride. I put it up at work on the bulletin board!! Good Luck, Ian!

Glad to see you are growing your hair out a little, Ian (picture is on the Team Type 1 blog). Great job at the Tour de Beauce. Keep those posts coming!
