tour de langkawi stage 4

that wasn’t what we were expecting. A look at the profile of todays ultra long stage revealed 2 massive climbs that we figured would surely obliterate the field when combined with the heat and the long distance, but it ended up not being selective at all. We were planning to wait for the end of the cat 2 climb to go on the attack but we didn’t even get out of the big chain ring for the climb. A lot of it was downhill even! Definitely the lamest cat 2 climb ever. So then we all looked at eachother for a while, and realized it should be another sprint finish. several other strong teams didn’t have a guy in the break, but eventually Garmin and a couple others joined in the chase to bring it back. It was also great chasing our balls off the last 30 km to get the sprint lined up and then cj got crashed while in perfect position to take the sprint with 200m to go. Luckily he’s ok but really disappointed. One thing is for sure, tomorrows race up to genting highlands will be selective. It is a massive hard climb. You go from overheating in the jungle at the bottome to chilly cloudy weather in pine trees 1600 vertical meters later. There will be no hiding tomorrow so I can’t wait to leave it all out on the road.
Also, I just realized, that was by far the longest race or ride ive done since 2007 and it felt good to get that in.
Thanks for checkin in
