Tour of Austria TT
July 11th, 2009 Posted in NewsAnother heart breaker for Garmin today, with my ace time trial teammate Svein Tuft narrowly missing out on the win by 1.5 seconds. Crazy.
The race today wasn’t what you normally picture Austria as…dead flat, windy, straight course through wine vinyards.
I gave it my best buy my legs were toast form overcompensating for my messed up hamstring the last couple days. Couldn’t go that fast only pedaling with one and a half legs! At least its still getting better and I’m sure after a few days rest it will feel normal again.
I tell you what though, looking at the various afflections of my team mates and I here in Austria, its really amazing how rare it is as an athlete to be 100 percent healthy, no aches and pains, and on good form. Just being 1 percent off because of stomach problems or a sore muscle is the difference between off the front or off the back. You have to take care of the details and maximize the good times!
One more day in Austria tomorrow, a flat circuit catering to the sprinters. We’ll have our work cut out for us with only 4 riders!
Thanks for checkin in
