Tour of California

February 18th, 2009 Posted in News

After three wet, soggy and cold days of racing in California things came to a sudden stop! After slowing to get my jacket zipped up at the top of sierra road I was coming back through the caravan and took a corner way too hot. I went straight off the road down through a grass field and straight into a parked truck on a different road. The last thing I remember thinking was that I didn’t want to end up like craig lewis did after he broadsided a car in the tour of georgia. People have been saying I had bad luck for crashing, but I think I came out pretty lucky with only requiring some stitches in my chin and some more in my left leg. At the local hospital we did some CT scans to make sure that the bruising and swelling in my gut wasn’t anything too serious. They also did a bunch of x-rays and everything checked out. I woke up this morning feeling unbelievably sore but a couple vicodin fixed that! I’m heading home to Colorado this afternoon and will make a decision with our team docs about tour of mexico next week, but I think I should be good to go!

Good thing you had that nice soft metal truck to take the impact. ;) Heal up quick.

    Ian-
The truck picture is amazing. I’m glad you weren’t as banged up as much as the truck! Have a great ride in Mexico.
