Unlucky Fabio

My poor Team Type 1 teammate Fabio Calabria has had a bad week! He was taken out on the bike path in Philly the day before the race. Upon returning to Colorado a MRI showed the he had broken his scaphoid. Minimum six weeks in a full arm cast. Obviously he hasn’t been putting in much time on the bike with only a few 3o min trainer sessions in the garage. Yet somehow he managed to get a pretty bad saddle sore. For anyone who doesn’t know what a ’saddle sore’ is, picture on your underside where you body contacts the seat and gets hours and hours of friction. Not a pleasant thing! So Fabs gets to the point where he figures he needs to go get it lanced off. Upon inpection at the hospital they freak out, and rush him off to the OR. Apparently it was way beyond a simple slice and drain procedure. His infection had started to spead and now had become a serious health risk. Poor guy now has three days in the hospital on IV antibiotics…pretty bad week, eh!
