Victory in Arkansas

May 19th, 2008 Posted in News

The tour of Arkansas just finished up and went about as well as it could have for Team Type 1. On stage one, I helped set a fast tempo up the days climb forcing a front group of about 30 riders. From this group Chaddy was able to attack with 1km to go and hold on for the win. On stage two, I once again found myself on the front this time driving along the peloton into the mountain top finish where Chaddy once again took the victory ahead of a Toshiba rider and Mike Lange of Jelly Belly. Stage 3 found the team needing to ride the front for over a 120km keeping the break within striking distance so that we could protect Chaddy’s overall lead. Stage 3 was a long long day with only a few guys from our team riding the front into a headwind so that we could save our GC leaders for the final climb, at the end of the day Chaddy was able to hold on to his lead. The final stage was a crit, pretty straight forward for us - ride the front and go fast enough to make sure nobody who could threaten Chaddy’s lead could get away. Tired legs from the past few days on the front made for some tough riding, but great training. Brad Huff took the win on that final day! And, we were able to hold on to the overall victory!

A couple weeks or so at home, and then it’s off to ‘Philly week’ and then the tour de beauce in Canada.
